Concerto Restaurant in Vila do Conde Portugal

Concerto: A Dialogue Between Heritage and Design

This intervention aims to restore key elements of the original building—such as plaster ceilings and wooden moldings.

Located in the historic heart of Vila do Conde, the Concerto restaurant is a space that celebrates architectural heritage with a contemporary approach, where architecture transforms into a subtle melody between past and present.

Natural materials, such as Rojo Alicante marble, are used for the dining tables and the front-of-house (FOH) or service area.

The intervention aimed to restore key elements of the original building, such as plaster ceilings and wooden mouldings, bringing them back to everyday life without freezing them in time. With a sober color palette, natural materials like marble, and discreet technical lighting, the space takes on its own rhythm: inviting us to desire, stay, listen, and feel.

Unique lighting features appear on the walls, in the front-of-house (FOH) area, and suspended above the Concerto restaurant space.

This restaurant is an architectural composition with soul; a symphony of details revealed in an intimate, functional environment deeply connected to its memory.

The design intervention for Concerto Restaurant was carried out by MIMOOL Arquitectura & Interiores.

The intervention carried out at Concerto restaurant, aimed primarily to enhance the existing architectural heritage by restoring key elements of the original building and returning its dignity and aesthetic expression, while adapting the space to meet the requirements of a contemporary restaurant.

The fabric on the sofa cushions and dining chair backs harmonizes beautifully with the restaurant’s interior.

Throughout the process, special attention was given to preserving the identity of the building, respecting its original construction features and integrating them into the new design proposal. Previously damaged or neglected elements, such as an ornamental ceiling with decorative motifs and wooden mouldings, were carefully restored and incorporated into the new layout, reinforcing the connection between past and present.

The unique ceramic wall pattern in the front-of-house (FOH) area complements the surrounding materials seamlessly.

The selection of materials and decor was made with particular care, aiming to establish a dialogue between the site’s history and its new function. Natural materials such as marble were combined with contemporary elements, including discreet technical lighting and high-durability finishes, resulting in a welcoming, functional, and authentic atmosphere.

Touch-sensor faucet at the sink made from high-quality brass—rust-resistant and corrosion-resistant.

The project sought to maintain the intimate ambiance of the original building, using a sober and elegant colour palette that highlights the architectural details and enhances natural light. All interventions were conceived with respect and sensitivity, creating harmony between tradition and modernity.

Concerto Restaurant is located in the historic heart of Vila do Conde, Portugal.
