House Designed as a Folded Volume

Set within a residential area of Las Rozas, on the outskirts of Madrid, House Among Holm Oaks occupies a plot densely populated with native trees. The project establishes a measured dialogue between architecture and landscape, balancing presence and discretion.

A harmonious integration of the living space, covered terrace, open terrace, and garden.

The house is positioned at the optimal point of the site, adapting to its topography to secure distant views towards Madrid while ensuring privacy. Interior spaces and outdoor areas unfold on a single level, enabling a seamless relationship between living spaces, porches, terraces and garden.

A series of articulated folds shape the façade.

Conceived as a folded volume, the building progressively opens towards the south. A series of articulated folds shape the façade, guiding interior circulation and orienting rooms towards the landscape. These gestures also act as passive environmental devices, controlling solar exposure and enhancing thermal comfort.

The interior spaces and outdoor areas are arranged on a single level.

At its core, a double-height living and dining space functions as the social heart of the house. Large glazed surfaces dissolve the boundary between inside and outside, allowing vegetation and natural light to permeate the interior. Bedrooms are arranged on the upper level, connected by a walkway that bridges the central void, while service areas and garage occupy the basement.

Expansive glass openings blur the boundary between interior and exterior.

Natural stone, expansive glazing and a ventilated metallic envelope define the material expression of the project. Together, these elements create a contemporary yet restrained architecture, deeply rooted in its setting and designed for long-term environmental performance.

The house stands on a site filled with holm oak trees.
