The MRT Jakarta Phase 2A North–South Line project stretches 5.8 kilometers from Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta Station to Kota Station. This phase consists of seven stations: Thamrin, Monas, Harmoni, Sawah Besar, Mangga Besar, Glodok, and Kota. Phase 2A features Indonesia’s first multi-level underground tunnel, the deepest MRT station, and stations integrated with heritage conservation areas.

The construction progress of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A North–South Line continues to show significant advancement. As of June 25, 2026, overall construction progress has reached 61.80 percent, exceeding the target of 60.98 percent. Phase 2A is divided into two segments. PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) targets the completion of the first segment, Bundaran HI–Monas, by the end of 2027, while the second segment extending to Kota is scheduled for completion by the end of 2029. Significant progress has also been achieved across each construction contract package.
CP201 Thamrin Station and Monas Station Reach 93.50%
Under Contract Package (CP) 201, construction progress has reached 93.50 percent, slightly ahead of the target of 93.45 percent. At both Thamrin Station and Monas Station, the construction team has entered the finishing stage, including ceiling works, Entrance 2 ramp access, installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, and sidewalk reinstatement around the construction site. PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) targets the completion and operation of this segment by the end of 2027.
The CP201 contract package was awarded to the Shimizu Corporation–PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk (ADHI) Joint Venture (JV) to construct Thamrin Station, Monas Station, and approximately 2.7 kilometers of underground railway alignment.
As of June 25, 2026, construction of MRT Project CP201, which will connect Bundaran HI to Harmoni with two underground stations, has successfully reached 93.50 percent, one of which is Monas Station.

Monas MRT Station is designed with a combination of innovative technology and environmentally friendly aesthetics. Its sunken entrance, designed with a semi-sunken concept at street level, preserves the direct view of the National Monument (Monas) for visitors. The station entrance is also equipped with a dual flood mitigation system consisting of an automatic flip-up flood gate and a flood shutter.

In addition, the station features a skylight, a robust steel structure with a diameter of 10 meters that allows natural daylight to penetrate into the station. Using low-emissivity (low-e) glass, the skylight helps reduce solar heat gain, keeping the station interior cool and comfortable.
CP202 Harmoni, Sawah Besar, and Mangga Besar Stations Reach 67.64%

Significant progress has also been achieved under Contract Package (CP) 202. The contract package, which covers the construction of tunnels and Harmoni, Sawah Besar, and Mangga Besar Stations, has reached 67.64 percent completion. As one of the milestones of civil construction in Indonesia, this contract package features Indonesia’s first underground tunnel and four-level underground station, and construction continues to accelerate.
Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka directly inspected the construction progress of MRT Jakarta Phase 2A in the Harmoni area, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (May 12, 2026). During the visit, the Vice President was accompanied by Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung, and President Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Tukiyat.
“The North–South Line project is a collaboration between the Central Government and the Regional Government. Construction progress has reached 67.64 percent, which is an extraordinary achievement. I would like to thank the President Director and the entire team, especially the construction team of more than 3,800 workers who have been working morning, afternoon, and night so that construction progress remains on schedule,” – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) appointed PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk (ADHI) in cooperation with Shimizu Corporation through the Shimizu–Adhi Joint Venture (SAJV) to execute CP202. Previously, SAJV also collaborated on the construction of MRT Jakarta Phase 2A CP201 (Bundaran HI–Harmoni).
“Through this project, ADHI continues to develop its competency in railway infrastructure. After previously constructing the Jabodebek LRT infrastructure with an elevated structure, ADHI is now expanding its expertise in railway infrastructure with underground structures,” – Adhi Karya Corporate Secretary Farid Budiyanto in a written statement issued in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 24, 2022).
The MRT Jakarta Phase 2A CP202 project includes the construction of three underground stations and an underground tunnel section extending from Harmoni to Mangga Besar.

CP203 Kota and Glodok Stations Reach 85.04%
Under Contract Package (CP) 203, construction progress has reached 85.04 percent, compared with the target of 86.03 percent. Works at Kota and Glodok Stations include pipe installation, cable installation, plastering, painting, installation of aluminum composite panel (ACP) wall panels, and other architectural works, which are still ongoing. PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) targets the completion and operation of this segment by the end of 2029.
After previously completing MRT Project CP106 on the Dukuh Atas–Bundaran HI section, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has once again been entrusted by PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) to execute CP203.
Director of Operations I of PT Hutama Karya (Persero), Novias Nurendra, stated that Phase 2 is a National Strategic Project (PSN) under Presidential Regulation No. 56 of 2018 concerning the Second Amendment to Presidential Regulation No. 3 of 2016 on the Acceleration of National Strategic Projects. The project, valued at Rp4.6 trillion, is being executed through a joint operation between Hutama Karya and Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company (SMCC-HK JO).
CP205 Bundaran HI–Thamrin Reaches 50.03%
In addition to the civil works for tunnels and stations, Contract Package (CP) 205 has also shown significant progress, reaching 50.03 percent, compared with the target of 42.05 percent. As of June 25, 2026, the concrete casting of the second track bed for the Bundaran HI–Thamrin segment, including the station/platform areas, has been completed. The main contractor for CP205 is Sojitz Corporation.

The concrete casting of the second track bed is now continuing in the Thamrin–Bundaran HI tunnel. To date, a total of 2,488 track meters of second track bed concrete casting has been completed, while Flash Butt Welding Section 2 has reached 400 of 561 joints. Meanwhile, Contract Package (CP) 206 for the rolling stock has entered the technical design stage.
CP207 Automatic Fare Collection System Installation

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Hitachi Rail, and Sumitomo Corporation signed the CP207 agreement, under which the Hitachi Sumitomo Consortium acts as the project contractor. The signing of the CP207 contract for MRT Jakarta Phase 2A North–South Line took place in Jakarta on June 4, 2026. Contract Package CP207 covers the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system.
The agreement was signed by Weni Maulina, Construction Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Nicolas Rabat, Authorized Representative of Hitachi Rail Hong Kong Limited, and Tsuyoshi Nakamura, Authorized Representative of the Sumitomo Corporation Consortium.
CP207 is part of the contract packages for the construction of MRT Jakarta Phase 2A North–South Line. The package includes the design, manufacturing, delivery, and installation of the Automatic Fare Collection system for MRT Jakarta Phase 2A North–South Line. The contract value for this package is Rp341.5 billion.
CP207 will support the operation of MRT Jakarta from Bundaran HI to Kota. It is the final contract package under Phase 2A.
To ensure seamless passenger movement throughout the station, MRT Jakarta Phase 2A features a comprehensive range of vertical and horizontal circulation facilities. In addition to conventional staircases, each station is equipped with elevators, escalators, and travelators to enhance accessibility and operational efficiency. PT Berca Schindler Lifts has been entrusted with delivering these mobility solutions, enabling passengers to move through the station safely, comfortably, and with ease.
North–South Line Phase 2A Project Cost: Rp25.3 Trillion
According to PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Phase 2A of the North–South Line is being constructed at a cost of approximately Rp25.3 trillion. The project is financed through a loan cooperation between the Governments of Indonesia and Japan.
Phase 2A is being developed together with station area development based on the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) concept, integrated with other modes of public transportation. This development concept not only provides MRT Jakarta station infrastructure but also creates integrated station precincts that combine transit functions with people, activities, buildings, and public spaces. The concept is intended to optimize access to public transportation and increase passenger carrying capacity.
Meanwhile, Phase 2B, which is planned to extend the line from Kota to the West Ancol Depot, is still in the feasibility study stage.

As construction continues to outpace scheduled targets, MRT Jakarta Phase 2A is emerging as more than a metro extension. It represents a significant advancement in Indonesia’s underground engineering capabilities, establishing new benchmarks in deep excavation, underground station construction, flood resilience, and integrated transit infrastructure while transforming public transportation in the nation’s capital.
