Pierattelli Architetture Presents Miki Armchair for Lema

The Italian firm designed a compact and enveloping seat, an upholstered shell enclosed within defined lines providing a refuge for complete relaxation.

For the 62nd Salone del Mobile.Milano, Milan, Italy, April 2024, held at Rho Fiera’s exhibition areas, studio Pierattelli Architetture designed Miki armchair for Lema, a historic Italian design company which embodies a philosophy rooted in the “culture of beauty.”

Founded in Florence in 1980, with an office in Milan, Pierattelli Architetture creates furniture that expresses ideals of softness, comfort and dynamism. Miki armchair features a cosy seat cushion enclosed by a padded, protective shell that extends, surrounds and envelops the seat, acting as a back and armrest. It embraces the body with its curvilinear movement, transforming the armchair into a private and comfortable refuge. Architect Claudio Pierattelli said: “Miki is delicacy and stability, a harmonious and cosy seat with sleek, soft lines. The armchair’s unique curved shape and its upholstered backrest were conceived as a nest, a welcoming retreat to eagerly revisit, a symbiosis of sculptural forms for this versatile piece of furniture that seamlessly integrates into various environments”.

With its compact size and a high backrest, Miki makes the central pedestal in die-cast aluminium a distinguishing element, transforming it into a standout feature that enhances its versatility. The armchair is equipped with a swivel mechanism that makes the seat dynamic and encourages interaction with the surrounding space. It is available in fabric, leather or synthetic leather covers, and is a versatile and harmonious armchair ideal for those seeking a contemporary and sophisticated taste without sacrificing comfort and wellbeing.
